Wade fishing is one of the most exciting ways to fish  the flats in this area. You truly get to experience the fish one on one and fight them on their there level.

The biggest advantage to wade fishing over fishing from a boat is Stealth. Many times you can walk right up on a school of red fish without them knowing you are there. I have done this a few times where I had the reds swimming between my legs. When wading you have a much lower profile on the water making it harder for the fish to see you from as far away. This can be a big advantage when fishing for gator sea trout. Sea trout have great vision and can see you many times long before you can see them.

Wade fish can be dangerous. There are a lot of stingrays and other species that live in our waters that can harm you even when wearing protective boots and waders!

Surf Fishing

Another type of trip I offer is surf fishing. I don't do the typical surf fishing trip though. I drive along to a few different spots looking for birds feeding. Once you find them I get out and walk the beach throwing everything from top water plugs to grubs with light tackle or fly. This is a great way to fish in the late summer and fall. You can catch everything including blues,  jacks, snook, redfish and tarpon. In the winter and early spring this is my favorite way to catch pompano.

FYI about wade fishing in this area

When fishing the flats you may be fishing in areas where the bottom is soft and you may have to walk through some mud. I try to avoid these areas but sometimes we have to walk through it to get to the areas where the fish feeding best.
