Gator Trout Fishing Charters

in the

 Trout Capital of the World

Over the past 10 years more and more fisherman are finding themselves drawn to this area to catch redfish. That is all they see on TV so they get tunnel vision. The truth is we have always had schools of redfish in this area but that wasn't always the reason people came here. The Cocoa Area in the 1950's was known as the Trout Capital of the World. This area got that reputation because more word record trout have been caught in Central Florida than any place in the US. There is a good reason for this. Our Trout are genetically different than those caught anywhere else.

Our trout fishing was was just about wiped out in the 70's and 80's by commercial fishing. The good news is thanks to groups like CCA our trout fishing is returning to the point that we will once again be able to call ourselves the Trout Capital.

So by now you may be asking yourself, what is a gator trout? Well a gator trout is one of those monsters larger than 30 inches. When a trout gets to this size they will eat everything smaller than themselves. It isn't uncommon to catch one of these fish on a 6 to 8 inch top water plug. I tell my clients all the time that if these fish got as big as our redfish I wouldn't wade fish anymore.

I am a full time U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain with over 30 years experience fishing the Indian and Banana Rivers from Titusville to Cocoa Beach for redfish, trout, snook and tarpon. I currently fish from a 2005 Famous Craft 1800XL. It is one of the most comfortable and driest flats boats on the market.

I will provide the following...

You should bring the following...

  • Cool long sleeve shirt, Depending on season.
  • Hat
  • Sunglasses (Polarized if possible)
  • A camera
  • A lunch or something for you to snack on

I usually like to hit the water 30 minutes prior to sunrise unless the fish are only feeding latter in the day.
